Starred Usage Policy

Effective Date: September 9, 2026

Last Updated: October 12, 2026

This Usage Policy explains Starred's personalized libraries, language-model and other artificial-intelligence features, what information they process, and the rules for using them. It covers the Starred iOS app, Star in phone messaging, starred.today, the Connections Portal, and related services. It supplements the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy of Muse Computing, Inc. ("Muse," "we," "us," or "our"). Starred is for adults aged 18 or older located in the United States.

1. Automated Features

Starred uses AI to respond in chat, interpret content, help create and edit compositions, research requests, recommend content, and detect unsafe material. Chat is with Starred's automated assistant, not a human. Responses can be incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate. Check important information and source material before relying on it. Results are not medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and Starred is not an emergency service.

In phone messaging, Star can research your requests, share discoveries, and run reminders or scheduled checks. When you request work involving a website or account, Star can use a browser and sign-in details you save through the Connections Portal to carry out that work. A saved sign-in alone does not authorize a new task or scheduled account check, and saving details does not mean that a sign-in or task succeeded.

Personalized library requests

Starred's personalized feed uses the interests and preferences you provide to search for and automatically select related third-party content. You do not choose each item individually.

When you expressly ask Starred to find content or build a personalized library, you authorize its automated systems to select individual items within the scope of your instruction without requiring you to identify each item. This includes an instruction you give in chat or through a library-request control when available. This policy describes that delegation; it does not say that every feed request is a separately recorded affirmative library instruction.

To provide this feature, Starred and its service providers retrieve, download, and store copies of selected content, process those copies, and display or play them for you in the app. Your request authorizes Muse to perform these activities on your behalf; it does not grant rights belonging to third-party content owners or permission from source platforms.

Starred uses your selected interests and, for requests you make in chat or other discovery features, the instructions, preferences, and relevant context you provide. It may derive search queries from that information and select videos or other posts automatically. Search results can be downloaded and processed as candidates before final relevance ranking; some retrieved items may not be shown. Processing may include preparing playback, thumbnails, transcripts, descriptions, and analysis. As you browse the personalized feed, Starred may search for and prepare additional content related to your interests. This is different from an individual import, where you supply a particular post URL or image.

Your personalized selection and account history are separate from the underlying third-party content. Retrieved posts, stored media, and processed results can be reused from Starred's shared catalog and shown to other accounts, including posts initially retrieved through a URL import. This does not make your private image uploads or account request history available to other users. Neither your request nor acceptance of this policy establishes copyright permission or DMCA safe-harbor eligibility. See Section 6 of the Terms.

2. Information Sent for Processing

When you use these features, Starred may send information to third-party AI providers. Depending on the feature, this includes:

  • messages, prompts, instructions, and relevant conversation history;
  • your preferred name, interests, and other context used to personalize a response;
  • photos, selected images, video or audio content, transcripts, and attachments you submit;
  • text, captions, descriptions, and relevant content from Stars, Moments, and Rooms used in a request;
  • source URLs, search queries, and imported or retrieved content used to fulfill your request;
  • observed website content and relevant third-party account content used for requested browser work; and
  • generated responses, safety signals, and technical request information needed to operate and troubleshoot the feature.

Not every provider receives every category. Some recognition, transcription, and creation features run on your device. Using an on-device feature is different from sending its content to chat or requesting cloud processing. Do not send passwords or payment credentials in chat, or submit confidential material you are not authorized to share. When requested website work needs a saved password or other reusable sign-in secret, use the Connections Portal page Star provides. Secrets saved there are stored in Kernel's credential vault and filled into the website, rather than supplied as text to Star's AI models. Include another person's information only when you have the necessary permission or other lawful basis.

3. Providers and Purposes

Our AI and content-processing providers include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Cloud / Vertex AI, and fal. The provider used depends on the feature and its configuration. They process request content and relevant context to generate responses or media, analyze or describe content, support search and recommendations, or perform safety checks.

Other providers support the same experience: Stream handles in-app chat messages and attachments; Linq handles phone messaging; Kernel provides browsers, saved browser state, and the credential vault for requested website and account work; Google Cloud and Firebase support authentication, infrastructure, and storage; ScrapeCreators supports social-content search and retrieval; EnsembleData supports source-content retrieval; Foursquare supports nearby-place requests; and Expo and Apple support notification delivery. A request may also send a derived search query to a search or source-content service, along with source URLs or post identifiers. Retrieved media, metadata, and relevant request context may be sent to storage and AI/content-processing providers for evaluation and playback. Our Privacy Policy explains these disclosures and product analytics separately.

These providers act on our behalf to deliver the requested functionality. This policy does not promise zero provider retention or that all providers use identical data-handling rules. Their applicable service agreements, feature configuration, and legal or safety obligations can affect retention and processing.

4. Your Choices

Before continuing from the onboarding Ready screen, you can open this policy, our Terms, and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not continue. Continuing signifies your agreement to the processing and sharing described here. You can review these documents again in Settings. Accepting these documents alone is not an express request to build a library. The personalized feed currently uses your selected interests as described above; an express library instruction is a separate action.

These policies are also available at the website links above and from onboarding for Star in phone messaging.

You control the instructions and content you submit and whether to request automated selection. For personalized libraries, Starred chooses the individual items; your request does not mean you have reviewed or own those items. Device permissions for camera, microphone, photos, location, and notifications are separate choices and can be managed in your device settings. Permission to use a device capability does not itself mean every item on that device is uploaded. The app's analytics preference is also separate from these permissions.

In phone messaging, ask Star to list, change, pause, or cancel reminders and discoveries. Sending STOP as a message by itself in a private chat stops scheduled contact; ordinary chat remains available. You can replace or remove saved sign-in details in the Connections Portal, although an existing website session may remain signed in. These controls do not delete information already submitted. For support or deletion requests, including when you use Star only through messaging, contact colin@starredtoday.com.

To stop making new discovery requests, stop browsing the personalized feed and stop making new library or discovery requests. Skipping interest selection prevents new interest-based Feed discovery; it does not revoke any work you previously requested. There is currently no dedicated in-app pause or cancellation control for library collection. You can contact colin@starredtoday.com to request help stopping further collection, or request account deletion in the app. Disabling a permission, closing the app, or stopping use does not by itself delete information already submitted or cancel work already requested. Retention, deletion timelines, backup handling, and legal exceptions are described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Responsible Use

Do not use Starred to break the law, infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights, exploit or sexualize minors, threaten or harass people, facilitate violence or fraud, distribute malware, impersonate others deceptively, or bypass security and safety controls. Do not upload or import content you individually choose unless you have the rights or other lawful basis necessary for the requested processing. This does not ask you to warrant ownership or permission for content Starred has not yet selected. The import rules and limited licenses in our Terms continue to apply.

You are responsible for reviewing outputs before using or sharing them. Do not present fabricated AI output as verified evidence about a person or as a statement made by someone who did not make it. We may limit or suspend misuse under the Terms. To report harmful output, a privacy concern, or another problem, contact colin@starredtoday.com.

6. Updates and Contact

We may update this policy as features and providers change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice or obtain permission where required. A policy update does not replace any permission required before a new use or disclosure of your information.
