Starred Terms of Service

Effective Date: September 9, 2026

Last Updated: October 12, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Muse Computing, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Muse," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your access to and use of Starred, including the Starred iOS app, Star in phone messaging, starred.today, the Connections Portal, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

Our Usage Policy supplements these Terms with rules for AI-assisted features, personalized library requests, and provider processing. Please also review our Privacy Policy.

By creating an account, accessing the Services, or affirmatively accepting these Terms when presented, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Eligibility and Geographic Scope

You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and are legally able to enter into these Terms.

2. Your Content and Backups

Data may not persist across devices, reinstalls, account changes, or Service updates unless the product expressly says otherwise. Do not rely on Starred as the sole copy of important information or media.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information and keep your account and device secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You may not share access credentials, impersonate another person, or use an account you are not authorized to use. Notify colin@starredtoday.com promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. The Services

Starred lets users create and save private Stars, interact with Moments and Rooms, use private chat and AI-assisted features, ask Starred to build personalized content libraries, receive recommendations, and use other features we make available. Some content remains only on your device. Other content is transmitted when you intentionally use a networked feature, such as chat, cloud or AI processing, notifications, or imports.

Through phone messaging, Star responds to what you share, researches requests, and can send discoveries and reminders. When you request work involving a website or third-party account, Star can use a browser and sign-in details you save through the Connections Portal to carry out that work. Saving sign-in details does not itself request work or establish that a sign-in or task succeeded. The Usage Policy describes these features and their controls.

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Services for lawful, noncommercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. Muse and its licensors retain all rights in the Services not expressly granted to you.

5. Your Content

"User Content" means photos, videos, audio, text, messages, attachments, notes, compositions, prompts, source URLs, individually imported material, feedback, and other content you submit or create. Third-party content selected by Starred for a personalized library is not treated as your User Content merely because you requested the library.

As between you and Muse, you retain any rights you have in your User Content. For content you submit or individually select for import, you must have the rights, permissions, consents, or other lawful basis needed for the requested use. This obligation does not require you to claim ownership of, or warrant rights in, individual items Starred selects automatically for a library.

To the extent you hold the relevant rights, you grant Muse a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, format, process, analyze, moderate, and display User Content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Services; comply with law; and enforce these Terms. This license ends when the User Content is deleted from our active systems, except to the extent it continues in backups or must be retained for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy. The narrower license in Section 6(B) governs individually imported material.

6. Personalized Libraries and Individual Imports

A. Personalized library requests

Starred's personalized feed automatically searches for and selects content using the interests and preferences you provide. You do not identify or approve each video or post separately.

When you expressly ask Starred to find content or build a library for you, you delegate selection of individual items within the scope of that request to Starred's automated systems. This applies to an instruction you give in chat or through a library-request control when available. General acceptance of these Terms does not itself establish that you made such a request.

To provide personalized content and fulfill discovery requests, Muse and its service providers search for, select, retrieve, download, store, reproduce, process, organize, and display or play third-party content in the Services. Processing can include previews, transcripts, descriptions, and other analysis used to evaluate and present content. Search results may be downloaded and processed before final selection, so not every retrieved item will appear in your library. Further discovery and preparation of content can occur as you browse the personalized feed. The Usage Policy explains this processing, provider involvement, and the limits of current stopping controls.

Your request authorizes Muse to act on your behalf within its scope. It does not convey any copyright or other right belonging to a third party, grant permission from a source platform, or establish a copyright safe harbor. Muse remains responsible for assessing the legal basis for its activities. Public availability alone does not establish permission to copy or host content.

B. Individual user-selected imports

Separately, Starred may let you submit a supported post URL or share an image you select. You identify the particular item in this flow, rather than asking Starred to choose items by interest. You must have the rights, permissions, or other lawful basis necessary for the requested retrieval, downloading, storage, processing, and display, and comply with applicable law and source-platform terms. Do not knowingly submit infringing material or misleading source information.

To the extent you hold the relevant rights, you grant Muse the limited license needed to receive or retrieve, download, store, reproduce, process, create technical previews of, display, and delete your individually submitted material to provide the requested feature. This license does not convey rights you do not hold or authorize unrelated use of your private uploads. The requirements for individual imports do not make you responsible for warranting rights in items Starred chooses for a personalized library.

C. Account access and shared third-party content

Your account's requests and collection history are not exposed to other users through these features. Direct image uploads remain account-restricted. However, retrieved third-party posts and their media are held in a shared content catalog. The same post, stored copy, or processed result may be selected for and shown to more than one account, including when a post entered the catalog through an individual URL import. A personalized library is not an exclusive copy of its underlying third-party content. Removing your account does not necessarily delete shared source content.

This description of reuse does not supply copyright permission for it. A user's request or limited license cannot authorize uses beyond the rights that user holds. Instagram, TikTok, and other source platforms are independent third parties and do not sponsor or endorse Starred.

D. Copyright complaints and account enforcement

Muse may reject, disable, or remove content after a complaint, upon learning of infringement, or when necessary to protect third-party rights or the Services. Send copyright complaints to colin@starredtoday.com, identifying the copyrighted work, the challenged content and its location in Starred, your contact information, and the basis of your claim. We may request further information needed to evaluate or act on a notice.

Our policy is to terminate, in appropriate circumstances, accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. We may also restrict content or access for other violations. A request to build a library does not itself mean that the user uploaded or knowingly selected each resulting item.

These Terms do not represent that Muse has qualified for a safe harbor under 17 U.S.C. § 512. Eligibility depends on actual operations and applicable legal requirements, not acceptance of these Terms or the label given to a feature.

7. Acceptable Use

You may not use the Services to:

  • violate law or another person's intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other rights;
  • upload, import, transmit, or distribute material you are not authorized to use;
  • exploit, sexualize, or endanger a minor;
  • threaten, harass, abuse, defraud, deceive, or impersonate another person;
  • facilitate violence, self-harm, illegal activity, or other serious harm;
  • submit malware, harmful code, or content designed to compromise a system;
  • gain or attempt unauthorized access to an account, system, or data;
  • evade security, moderation, usage limits, or access controls;
  • scrape, crawl, copy, or extract the Services or their output at scale;
  • use the Services or their output to build or train a competing service without Muse's written permission; or
  • interfere with the operation or integrity of the Services.

We may investigate suspected violations and suspend, restrict, or terminate access when reasonably necessary.

8. AI-Generated and AI-Assisted Results

The Services use artificial intelligence. AI-generated or AI-assisted output may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, offensive, non-unique, or outdated. Muse does not guarantee that output is original, accurate, suitable, or non-infringing.

Output is provided for general informational and creative purposes. It is not legal, medical, financial, mental-health, or other professional advice and must not be used for emergencies or as the sole basis for an important decision. You are responsible for evaluating output and for how you use it.

To the extent permitted by law and subject to third-party rights, you may use output generated for you. Other users may receive similar output.

9. Third-Party Services and Content

The Services may rely on, display, retrieve, or link to third-party services and content. Muse does not control and is not responsible for third-party services, availability, content, policies, or conduct. Your use of a third-party service may be governed by separate terms and policies.

10. Muse Intellectual Property

Muse and its licensors own the Services, including the software, design, branding, and underlying technology, excluding User Content owned by users or third parties. You may not use Muse or Starred names, logos, or branding without written permission.

If you provide feedback, you grant Muse a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use it without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you as its source without permission.

11. Service Changes

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services. We may impose or change limits on features, storage, or access. Where required by law, we will provide notice of material changes.

12. Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion

You may stop using the Services at any time. You may request account deletion through the in-app flow or contact colin@starredtoday.com, including if you use Star through phone messaging.

We will remove your account and associated personal information from our active systems within 30 days after your request, subject to the retention exceptions described below and in the Privacy Policy.

We may retain limited information for longer when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, resolve disputes, enforce these Terms, or keep a record that we completed a deletion request. We may also retain de-identified information that can no longer reasonably be linked to you.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, fail to meet eligibility requirements, or if suspension or termination is required to protect the Services, Muse, users, or others.

After termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will remain in effect, including provisions concerning ownership, licenses, disclaimers, liability, and disputes.

13. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." MUSE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

MUSE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE ACCURATE, SECURE, UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR AVAILABLE; THAT CONTENT WILL BE PRESERVED; OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN WARRANTY DISCLAIMERS, SO SOME OF THESE DISCLAIMERS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MUSE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, AGENTS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF MUSE AND THE OTHER MUSE PARTIES FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID MUSE FOR THE SERVICES DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIABILITY LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

15. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any rights you have under applicable law, legal proceedings arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services must be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you and Muse consent to those courts' jurisdiction.

These Terms do not require arbitration and do not contain a class-action waiver. Muse may adopt a different dispute-resolution provision only through an updated, legally reviewed version of the Terms and any notice or renewed acceptance required by law.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Services change. We will identify the effective date of the updated Terms and provide notice or request renewed acceptance when required. Changes apply prospectively unless otherwise stated or permitted by law. Continuing to use the Services after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

17. General Terms

These Terms, the Usage Policy, and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Muse concerning the Services unless another written agreement expressly applies. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. Muse's failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without Muse's written consent. Muse may assign them in connection with a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
